What is the process for SureSmile in Dunstable?

At your first consultation we will assess your teeth, gums and your bite. We will take x-rays of your mouth and scans of your teeth and discuss what you’d like to change about your teeth.

We will talk through the process for teeth straightening with SureSmile. The images taken of your teeth will be used to create your bespoke SureSmile aligners.

It will take a couple of weeks to create your SureSmile aligners. Once these are ready, we will invite you back to the dental practice in Dunstable to fit them and show you how to wear them.

Wear your SureSmile aligners

We recommend wearing your SureSmile aligners for at least 20 – 22 hours a day. Your dentist will show you how to remove your aligners so that you can clean them.

You wear your SureSmile aligners every day for the allocated time – usually one week before moving on to the next set of aligners in the series. You continue in this way until you have reached the final set of aligners in the series, and you can show off your stunning new smile.

You will also receive a SureSmile VPro which you should use daily for five minutes. This small device is inserted into your mouth and delivers gentle vibrations which help to ensure that your aligners are fitting snugly against your teeth.

FAQ's for SureSmile

What can I expect when first wearing SureSmile?

Most patients notice some pressure on their teeth when first wearing SureSmile aligners. This is natural and will ease within a few days. Some patients may lisp to begin with as they get used to wearing aligners in their mouth. This again will settle down in a few days.

How should I clean my SureSmile aligners?

Your dentist will give you more details about this, but you should take the aligners out of your mouth and gently use your toothbrush and toothpaste to scrub the aligners before rinsing them with warm water.

Do I have to watch what I eat whilst wearing SureSmile aligners?

Unlike traditional metal braces, you can eat whatever you like whilst having your teeth straightened with SureSmile. This is because you remove your braces before eating and drinking. Enjoy your favourite foods and then re-insert your aligners after your meal.

Since being absolutely traumatised from a root canal treatment I had here 10 plus yrs ago that was never right but I was too scared to go back and get it sorted. Finally Adam successfully took my crown off and is replacing it for me. He knows how scared I am and reassured me so much. To have trust again in someone is huge for me.
